Humantay lake

Visit this blue lagoon created by the melting of the Humantay snowy glacier at 4100 meters altitude, this hike is 2 km, of medium intensity.

We will start the day early in the morning with pick up at the hotel in Cusco. We will travel by vehicle, passing through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo, to enter the Salkantay route and reach a point where we will begin the trekking. We will walk 1 km until we reach the Soraypampa camp, at 3900 m altitude, where we will have breakfast.

Then, we will start the ascent walk for 1 hour and a half until we reach the Humantay lagoon, which is located at an altitude of 4100 m. Here we can see the variation of colors, depending on the perspective that gives us the point where we are, in addition to the bottom glacier that feeds the lagoon, all this if the weather allows.

After taking pictures and resting from the hike at that altitude, we will go back down to the camp where we will have lunch. Then, we will walk to our vehicle to return to the historic center of Cusco, where our tour will end.

This tour can be done throughout the year, the weather usually stabilizes between the months of June and November, in which there are more sunny days. However, as it is a mountain tour, there are certain occasions when fog and cloudiness could impede the visibility of the lagoon.
